Chairman Show Report 2005Well, another show is over – and wasn’t it a good one? There was something for everyone and thousands of you came to join in the fun. If you were one of them, we hope you enjoyed it – if you weren’t just look at what you missed : The Horticultural, Arts and Crafts Show gets bigger every year - read all about it, and see photographs of the entries and some of the proud winners. There were more stalls and stands than ever on the showground : there was a choice of fire engines, a big one to view and a little one for rides; a steam engine; and even the army came with their paint-ball shooting gallery! The Craft Fair was well supported again – especially the cake stall - and, of course, the show café and the beer tent did a roaring trade all day long. We had rock and pop music from Indigo C and nostalgic numbers from Elvis. Kids had fun all day on the inflatables - bouncy castle, giant slide, bucking bronco and surfboard, while many of them were introduced to rock climbing on the enormous climbing wall. And if that wasn’t enough, there were pony rides, go-karts, circus skills, Punch & Judy and sweet-making. All this and Cox’s Fun Fair, too. JRCS Falconry wowed the crowds with the skills of their superb collection of hunting birds. We had two dog shows: the always popular Companion Dog Show with both pedigree and ‘fun’ categories ; and the Melton Mowbray Dog Club, who gave us a wonderful demonstration of dog training and agility. Training and agility was also very evident in the martial arts display put on for us by almost eighty members Keyworth Tae Kwondo Club, and might have been useful to the teams in the Tug-of War tournament, who gave us a lot of fun. The volunteers who bring you this fun day on behalf of the Keyworth Playing Fields Association, and for the benefit of the sports clubs in the village, want to thank all the local businesses who support the show, all the helpers who make it possible, and all the visitors whose obvious enjoyment makes our labours worth while. We can’t do it without you and we hope to see you all again next year. Keyworth Show Chairman
