Comments and Suggestions for 2005

Thanks to everyone who left suggestions and ideas in the box at the show; please e-mail the web site if you have other thoughts or have further comments.

All teenager entries should be judged against 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.
Comment - This would act as encouragement to entrants - as only a highly commended award was given this year it could be seen as a disincentive to others.

Consider using NAFA rules for flower arrangements.
Comment - This would make judging easier and fairer but they are harsh for true amateurs; it may be worth having some classes at this level and other classes still using show current show rules.

Too hot in marquee - can we have some ventilation or high level fans?
Comment - Will see what other options there are for next year.

Distribute schedules in Gotham.
Comment - Gotham is listed on schedule and is within the 5 mile radius; ensure next year that schedules are distributed there. We will also put Clipston and Normanton on the schedule.

Every single year it seems that the same people win 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the flowers etc. I’ve been a florist for 24 years and most of the displays were better than the ones that won. It’s disgusting that this is allowed.
Comment - Judges are changed each year, judging is to NAFA rules in general and entrants are not identified so judging is impartial. If the same people do win this is a reflection of their competence but in fact there have been changes in the winners names year on year. There is also a novices class for anyone who has not won a prize before so this does mean there are at least 3 new names on the winners list every year.
