Thirty Third Annual Show - Saturday 12th July 2008

To be held in the Marquee on Keyworth Playing Fields

Infant and Junior Schools of Keyworth

Special Feature Classes

In the past few years we have held successful special feature classes for schools and we would like to invite you to arrange entries for these classes again this year. The classes are age/year related and are reserved specifically for entries of individual work produced by children whilst at school; a separate class for the Reception Year will give greater opportunity for entries to be judged more fairly against peer group entries. Schools will not be asked to work on other classes in the young peoples section of the show although any encouragement to pupils to do so would be very welcome; open classes for young people are reserved for work produced by them outside school.

Entries will be collected during w/c 7th July ready for judging on 11th July by an independent adjudicator.

The special Schools Feature Classes are again being sponsored by the Keyworth and District Arts Association and the theme for this year is related to the Olympics taking place in China – a topic which should give wide scope to talk to children about sport, culture and geography.

Show Class 85  -      Reception Year – A picture of/or including the Olympic Flame or Flag

Show Class 86  -      Years 1 & 2 – An action picture of your favourite Olympic event taking place

Show Class 87  -      Years 3 & 4 – Design a video/DVD cover for your Olympic highlights

Show Class 88  -      Years 5 & 6 – A poster advertising the Olympic games in China

The main purpose of holding the Schools Feature Classes is to involve the schools in this annual community event and allow the children and the schools to exhibit their skills to a wider audience. There will be prizes of £2:00, £1:50 and £1 for first, second and third prizes awarded to the individual winning entrants in each of the four classes.

The following Specific Rules for entry are in addition to the full rules contained in the 'Schedule of Classes' which shall apply equally to entries in this class:-

  • Entries will only be accepted from Junior and Infant Schools in Keyworth Village.
  • Each entry shall be the sole work of an individual child.
  • Each entry shall be submitted on one A4 sheet of paper or card.
  • Each entry shall have the Show Class Number shown on the front of the entry and the Name, Age and School of the entrant clearly written on the reverse; no reference is to be made to the entrants name on the front of the entry to ensure impartial judging.
  • The pictures can be produced using any materials or medium but must be hand generated - computer generated entries not permitted in the special classes.
  • Originality as well as artistic presentation will be taken into account in the judging.
  • First [£2:00], Second [£1:50] and Third [£1:00p] place prizes will be awarded in each class. There will be no points awarded in these feature classes that contribute to trophy awards.
  • Entries and copyright will remain the property of the show for future display purposes.
