Our Annual Horticultural, Arts and Crafts Show 2011
Well done to all the people who entered exhibits to this year’s show and many congratulations to all those who put in entries to win certificates, trophies and prizes. The marquee was again full of colour, fragrances and skilled entries making it a well worthwhile result for the hardworking committee and other helpers.
In total there were 672 registered entries to the show plus a great number of charming and well executed submissions by children and young people from our local schools. Nine families competed for the family cup and 48 children registered entries for work that they done at home – many of these would also have submitted entries via the school classes.
There was once again a good selection of new names appearing on entry forms and amongst the prize winners; we had quite a number of queries via the web site and personally from people entering for the first time ever and exhibitors came from as far afield as Peterborough, Calverton, Loughborough and Manchester!
The Keyworth Arts Association helped greatly by providing prizes for the young people’s classes, the art & craft classes and towards administration costs. Rushcliffe Borough Council contributed support from the Community Support Fund and eight local businesses supported us by donating prizes. Village Hair put on a great display of the trophies for the couple of weeks leading up to the show and we got a year’s subscription to Gardeners World Magazine to offer as one of the prizes.
The trophies this year were charmingly presented by Jeanne Stevens who has been a stalwart helper and supporter of the show for many years. Thanks and much appreciation to the judges, to the helpers and to the committee who bring this event together and who worked tirelessly on the day.
Thanks to all of you who entered the show and visited the marquee on show day. See you again next year!
