The 2010 Horticultural Show Report

Our Annual Horticultural, Arts and Crafts Show

What a great day was enjoyed at the show this year and the display in the Horticultural Marquee was better than ever. We had nearly 30% more entries than the last few years and it was good to see new names appearing on entry forms and amongst the prize winners.

Well done to all the people who entered exhibits – nearly 200 people of which over 60 were children and young people. In addition we also had a great number of entries from the local schools. Congratulations to all those who put in winning entries and to the trophy and prize winners.

The theme for this year’s show was ‘The Garden and Plants’ prompted through the sponsorship by Keyworth Gardening Association. The Keyworth Arts Association also helped greatly by providing prizes for the young people’s classes and the art classes. Nine local businesses supported us by donating prizes for selected classes and Village Hair helped by putting on a great display of the trophies for the couple of weeks leading up to the show.

The trophies this year were presented by Sue Heyward, the Chelsea award winning garden designer, and Martin Anderson MBE, a founder member of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, who sponsored the Chelsea garden’s that Sue designed for the charity.

Many thanks and much appreciation to the Keyworth and District Gardening Association, Keyworth Arts and other local businesses who donated prizes, to the judges, to the helpers, to Sue and Martin for presenting the trophies.

Particular thanks to the committee who bring this event together and who worked tirelessly on this very hot summer’s day. Thanks to all of you who entered the show and visited the marquee on show day. See you next year!
